For my very first post I would like to remind buyers and sellers that choosing a local agent to help you with your real estate needs can be critical to your success.
I have spoken to many customers who were unsatisified with the knowledge that their agent had about the area they were looking in, ie. school info, major routes, shopping, restaurants, hospitals, or even just the best place to buy corn on the cob.
Explaining the "lay of the land" should be part of the real estate service that is provided to people and they should expect it. I know with technology you can list and sell a home anywhere in the state but how can you truly be giving the best service if you don't know the area.
I know you can Google or GPS, just about anything I do that every day but it doesn't explain the neighborhood, what type of homes are in the area, how do the schools rate, what is the local government like, how are the taxes or even where is the best breakfast place (very important to me).
So remember that even though you may have a friend in the business they may not know the area as well as the agent who lives there so ask them if they would be willing to refer you to that local agent. Then everyone benefits.
